Bailey Stands Up!

Bailey surprised me today when she was over by the gate at the top of the stairs.  Susie was downstairs doing some laundry, and Bailey was trying find her.  She went over to the gate and got up on her knees like she usually does.  Then she just stood up!  I yelled for Susie and she came up the stairs and said, "Bailey!  You are standing up!"  She just grinned.  She stood there for a couple of minutes, then gracefully sat down like she had done it a hundred times before.  She is growing up fast!

Into Everything!

Bailey has really got this crawling thing down. She was home all day with Susie yesterday, and was all over the place getting into anything she could reach. She seems to like the stereo, and things in baskets. We have to be a bit more attentive now when watching her, but it is fun to see her explore and discover.

The Boys are Chasing Bailey Already!

Our friends from Greenwich came over yesterday with their baby John. Ari and Adam went to school in Missoula, Montana. And Adam grew up in American Falls, ID. Small world. Anyways John was VERY interested in Bailey. He is 7 days younger than Bailey and crawling as well. As soon as we set them down across from each other, John crawled over to Bailey and started grabbing her shirt. The kinda freaked Bailey out, but she got over it. The second time John started chasing her, Bailey started running. She turned toward me for rescue. You can see that John managed to get a hand full of pants though. I guess Bailey has a new boyfriend! He is a cute little guy.

Spring is Here!

The weather is finally "warming up" here in CT. It was almost 60 degrees out yesterday. Susie is working this weekend, so it is just Bailey and me. We had a fun day. I took her to the park near our house. We sat on a blanket and played with some toys. She was very interested in some kids learning how to play tee-ball. She spent most of her time watching them run around. I thought that she might be afraid of the grass, but she wasn't. She crawled off the blanket a couple of times and stuck her hands right in the grass and dirt.

Uncle Scott and Tia Jenn visit us in CT

On March 25th, Scott and Jenn came to visit us in Stamford, CT. They took the train up from Princeton, NJ where Jenn's brother lives. We had a nice time. We took them to our favorite sushi place, Egane. We like it there because it is always empty and Bailey can make a lot of noise and not bother anybody. Not that she does though. After that, we went home and put Bailey to bed and watched American Idol. The next day, they went into NYC for a couple of days. Thanks for visiting us guys!

Crawling on the First Day of Spring

Well, our little girl is mobile now. She has crawling pretty much down. She has been trying to crawl for the past few weeks, and on the first day of spring she figured it out. Now she is crawling all over the place and getting into everything. It is a lot of fun though. It makes Susie and I feel good to come home after a long day at work and see our little girl crawl toward us and want to be picked up. It just melts the heart.

Gearing Up for Spring

Well it is the middle of March in CT. Not spring yet, but it will technically arrive on Friday. Will we actually get some spring-like weather? It is not in the forecast. At any rate, I was cleaning Bailey's closet out of clothes that are sized 3-6 months and found this adorable Tommy Hilfiger pink striped dress. I looked at the tag and, "Aaahhh! Shoot! It is 3- 6 months!" It looked plenty big for her to wear now, so we had her try it on. Who knew that tomboy Susie would be excited to dress her daughter in a pink dress? The same clothes item that, at 3 years old, I didn't want to wear at my Aunt Adele and Uncle Mark's wedding...the term "pink dress" was not in my vocabulary. Sorry Adele and Mark for wearing a frown and pouting in your big family wedding picture! Anyway, I must say I look forward to seeing Bailey in dresses and to see her cute little arms and legs after the winter months of long-sleeved onsies and pants. By the way, Nana found two dresses for this summer that are baby blue!!! They will surely bring out the color of her beautiful blue eyes.

Surprise in Colorado!

Last weekend Bailey and I flew into Aspen, Colorado for a surprise visit. My sister lives near there with her husband and 2 kids and my Mom, from Boise, was flying there for a long weekend visit. About a month before, TJ suggested I fly out there and surprise them, since I couldn't make it home when Julie is there for Spring Break. Brian, my Dad, Scott and Jenn were all in on it--and didn't slip up for a month! It was so much fun to hear my Mom and Julie talk about their trip and what they had planned. I was snickering inside!

So Bailey and I flew in Thursday, just an hour after my Mom did. The plan was for my Mom, Julie and Mac to go shopping in Aspen, then meet Brian for lunch. Brian picked up Bailey and me and we went into the cantina a few minutes after Brian. I strolled Bailey around the corner to their table and watched my Mom and Julie and Julie's reactions. It took a few seconds. They both looked at the baby in the stroller and thought, "Bailey has a jacket just like that!" Then my Mom looked up and and did a double-take, as she recognized me and tried to figure out how I got to Aspen. It was a great surprise and Brian did a great job helping keep the secret.

Some highlights of the trip:

*Susie's bag and Bailey's carseat delayed for 12 hours--loaner car seat.
*Surprising Aiden at school and his reaction, "Susie's coming too?!"
*Bailey's first wagon ride
*Mackenzie exercising her gag reflex as she watched Bailey spit up/puke on the floor which landed from 5 feet up with a splat.
*Watching Aiden read a book aloud for the first time
*Seeing about 30 elk in the fields near the Kelso's previous house....and numerous deer
*Aiden and Mackenzie so very much into Star Wars
*Playing "restaurant" with Aiden and Kenz. One chef, one waiter/waitress, one patron.
*Aiden not wanting to climb the big boulder because, "that's a climb for second graders."
*Bailey holding on to Kenz's coat in the car because she likes the way it feels.
*Aiden at the diner saying, "I'm done!" and Kenzie spilling the water.
*Porta-crib + Susie's back = NG
*Herbal supplement called "Altitude Adjustment" at the City Market pharmacy.

Trying to Dress Myself

r
I think that Bailey is starting to realize that when we put clothes on her, they usually go over her head. So she has been taking her clothes and putting them on her head.....even her pants! She doesn't have it completely figured out yet I guess.

Jump for Joy!

This is great shot of Bailey jumping, which seems to be her favorite past time. She can really get some air!
