Bailey's First Birthday (a little early)
Tonight we celebrated Bailey's birthday a couple of days early. Julie and Brian and kids were coming home from Coeur d' Alene, and Scott and Jenn and kids were coming down from McCall. It was going to be 98 degrees today, so we got out the kiddie pool this morning and filled it up with some water so it would heat up during the day. Bailey got in at 5pm and absolutely had a ball!! She held on to me with one hand and splashed with the other. She got her face dripping wet, but loved it.
Her four cousins all helped her unwrap her gifts. Who are we kidding, Bailey didn't undo a one. She got some good fun bath toys, shakers and bells, a big pink ball, a duffel bag, books, and some clothes. It was a good size party...the only person missing was Daddy, as he was just about to take his Boards and then start the trek across the country with his truck and U-Haul trailer.
We had hamburgers and hot dogs, potato salad and beans and later on some angel food cake. But Bailey had a chocolate cupcake with bright pink and blue frosting. I thought she needed something darker--chocolate--to make a big mess while eating for pictures. Angel food cake is, well, white. She had a good time tearing apart that cupcake. Afterwards she had to get in on the action back at the pool. The cousins were jumping and splashing all around. Once her dress came off, she made a bee-line for the pool. Her laugh turned to a shudder, as Mackenzie surprised her by pouring cold water down her back.

Bailey's (First) Black Eye!!!!
Well, Bailey got her first black eye last week. Daddy was sitting on a little "red chair" in the garage and Bailey was standing up next to his leg. Her hand slipped off his leg and she landed right on her face! Yeowww! The sound of her head hitting the garage floor is one we would like to forget. The very next night, during her bath, she was standing up next to the soap dish, and again, her hand slipped and her face hit the side of the tub. The exact spot where she hit the night before! TJ and I felt so bad. Her eye immediately started puffing up and turning red. She was getting her first black eye! As the days went by, it turned the usual gamete of colors.

Daddy here today!
TJ is flying in for a quick 5-day visit! He has finished his 5-year residency and when he returns, will be studying for the Boards and finishing packing up the condo. He'll start his drive across the country mid-July. This visit is just a break and a chance to see "his girls." It has been a month since we have all been together and Bailey has changed so much. Her hair is filling in quite nicely, although it is still short. She has progressed from not walking at all with your fingers in her hands to now trying to grab them when she stands up and taking off all through the house. She is eating a bigger variety of foods now, and none of it is baby food. Still on formula, of course, until she is one year old.
Looks like TJ is in about 10 minutes early at 3:02. Bailey had to pick this afternoon's nap to fuss and not go down at 1:30 right away. She has just calmed down...she'll only get an hour before we have to leave for the airport!
The picture is of Bailey exploring the leaves and the grass last week. She is not confined to the blanket anymore!

Close to Walking
Bailey is sure getting close to walking. In the 3 weeks that she has already been in Boise, she has become more confident in taking some steps, with help. Instead of one or two awkward steps when you hold her hands, she now just takes off--almost running! The Elmo car has helped her get around, but it is too lightweight. We put one of Nana's kettlebells in the seat to weigh it down so that she doesn't take off. I tell her everyday to just wait 11 days until Daddy can get to town so he can witness her first steps!
She has been rockin' out a lot at the keyboard and still loves, loves, loves to play with clothes. She also has been learning to kick the soccer ball around. I help her with the big kick, but she can dribble the stuffed soccer ball all through the house. She gets so excited and starts panting...not quite a laugh but she is smiling.

Memorial Day in Colorado
My parents, Bailey, Max and I drove down to Colorado for the Holiday weekend. Julie and Brian knew that cousin Max was coming along, but Aiden and Mackenzie did not know. It was quite a surprise when we arrived on Friday afternoon! Got some great video's of when Kenz and Aiden saw Max for the first time.
Saturday Dad and Brian played golf while the rest of us went out to breakfast. We went to Glenwood Springs to walk around downtown and shop a bit. When I push Bailey in the stroller through the stores she loves to stick her hands out and try to grab the shirts and pants. I think she is trying to get a feel for the material, just like her Mama does when she shops!
Sunday Mom, Julie and I got to go for an amazing hike to Hanging Lake while Dad and Brian watched the kids. Bailey wasn't eating too well; not liking the baby food too much but not eating the finger foods either. (Turns out she had the beginning of an ear infection--her first--and we went to the ER in Boise when we got home Monday night. She had a temp of 103 degress and we have no pediatrician yet, so Dr. Dad said to go to the ER right away. She got some amoxicillin for 10 days and loved it, thankfully!) In the afternoon we all went to Aspen to ride the Gondola to the top of the Ajax Mtn. Eleven-thousand feet! Got some good pictures from the top and the veiw was amazing. The kids loved it.
Was a quick weekend trip but so great to visit the Kelso's in Colorado! Thanks Julie and Brian for the fun weekend!

Bailey's New Pastime
Bailey loves clothes. She loves to "help" fold the laundry, aka unfold the laundry! I had all of her clothes out on the bed to see what we had to put away while we are in Boise at my parents' house. Bailey wanted to get up there and just grab shirts and pants and skirts and flap her arms while holding them. She also likes to play with the dirty laundry. She gets out all the clothes that are waiting to be washed.

Susie and Bailey move to Boise
Tuesday May 12th came up on us pretty fast. Today Bailey and I flew to Boise. We had a 7:30 AM flight so had to get up early (4:30)! At least we were flying out of the White Plains airport. Of course, there were going to be tears. I had a tough time. TJ and I have been on long stints before, but now with Bailey it is totally different. TJ had a tough time when she reached out for him for another hug good-bye. Luckily, though, TJ gets to come back out in a month for 5 days. We already miss Daddy.
However, there are things I'm looking forward to living in Boise:
*Playing with cousins!!!
*REI, Sierra Trading Post Outlet, The Benchmark, Idaho Mtn Touring, Title 9
*94.9 the River and 3 country stations!
*Eggs Benny at Goldy's
*Moxie Java
*Blue Sky Bagels
*Rhodes frozen dinner rolls --> sticky buns
*Ridge to River trail system
*Grocery shopping at WinCo
*Alive @ Five
*Saturday market
*Flying Pie Pizzeria
*Summer Snow
*Did I mention 3 country radio stations?!?!
Susie
